Bankruptcy and credit cards go hand in hand and that is actually one of the main reasons that people are faced with the dilemma. If you have been using your credit cards as a means of purchasing whatever you want and whenever you want it; then you could be facing the bankruptcy and credit cards dilemma.

If you are trying to avoid having to declare bankruptcy or even get out of debt; then you have to honestly ask yourself do you face these credit card problems:

1. Do You Have Outstanding Balances: People tend to believe that it is okay to carry balances on their credit cards as long as they pay the minimum amount due. However this is not true; you should attempt to carry a balance on your card.

If you do have to use your credit card then try to pay off the balance before it becomes 30 days old.

2. Are You Paying The Minimum Payment: This is what gets people into trouble. They tend to believe that as long as they make the minimum payment that eventually the payments will go away.

This is not true as a matter of fact all you will be paying on is the interest rate. Especially if your card carries a high interest rate; so one of the best things that you can do is to pay your balance off entirely.

3. Do You Have Several Credit Cards: This one is huge especially if you have several credit cards that have balances on them. This just means that you are drowning in debt.

There is nothing wrong with having credit cards as long as you know that it is not smart to carry balances on them. You should avoid using them if you do not need to. Instead just keep them in case of an emergency.

The only problem with that is our society is so used to purchasing all kinds of material items; even if they do not have the money. So instead of using your credit cards like money; try saying “no” the next time that you do not have the cash for something.
